As you begin to consider remote monitoring for your practice, understanding the workflow is essential. Remember, remote monitoring does not take the place of all in-person visits, but is used in addition to in-person visits.
1. Patient Onboarding

Patient is setup in the system, a scan interval is set (such as every 1-2 weeks), patient is provided with instructions and any phone accessory for image capture.

Patient takes their first scan to establish a baseline and submits weekly/biweekly scans throughout treatment.
This step is ongoing throughout treatment. Repeat as needed.
3. Review Scans

Some systems review scan using AI and doctor is alerted if hygiene/occlusion/aligner fit is not right, with other systems the doctor reviews all scans.

4. Communication To Patient

Some systems send an automatic message to the patient while others the doctor must initiate the message. Communications are based on the review of the scan. If all looks good, the patient receives a message directing them to move to the next aligner, or set up a braces appointment and to keep up the great work. If there is a problem, a communication specific to problem such as brushing instructions to patients with poor hygiene.
